Planning Goa trip end of sept .
Leaving on Friday late afternoon.. any suggestion on where can we halt on way ? We thinking of halting in Kolhapur , so any good hotel suggestions would be welcome. Couple stay. Would love to hear from you.
Thanks in Advance
Hi Shyamli M, Wishing you a happy trip in advance.
Kolhapur will be a good place to take halt at. There are many decent hotels available in Kolhapur where you can stay. As you are a couple, I suggest you to prefer OYO Rooms, especially the few which we have mentioned here because of the privacy concerns:
1. Capital O 3285
2. Capital O 28762
3. OYO 41164
Booking in 5-7 days advance will be better if you want to save money on your booking. Also you can use coupon “MONSOON35” to get 35% discount on booking. Hi ! Your article is very informative.I am going by two wheeler by this end of December. This is my first trip. So I am little worried about the documents I need to carry to Goa . As my bike is from Pune and is 9 months old. Is there any problem from Traffic police at Goa or any other place. I am also planning to visit Amboli Ghat and then go Goa. So which route will be better as I am giving a halt at Kohlapur.
Hi Subhendu, if you are going by your own two wheeler (obviously in most of the cases), You just need to carry usual documents like RC of Vehicle, your driving license, and pollution certificate. Just follow all the traffic rules well and you won’t face any sort of issue from anyone. Talking about the route, Asian Highway 47 which goes like Pune – Kolhapur – Amboli Ghar Waterfall – Goa will be perfect. For route information, keep checking it on your phone if you are in doubt on the way. Also, makes ure that you don’t go too fast with the vehicle, have a safe journey and have maximum fun. If you wanna ask anything, you can always message at https://www.facebook.com/traveleronwheels
very informative… can u suggest us some safety measures (climatic changes, food , so on)to be considered while traveling via car. we are married couple planning to go in the first week on October. Looking forward for your reply.. Thanks in advance:)
Hi Satyanarayana, thanks for reading our Pune to goa road trip blog. Talking about the weather, both in Pune and Goa, you probably see rains. Though it’s not the peak raining time in Goa. Visiting Goa in monsoon has its benefits. You will be able to see Goa at it’s best green. Also, you may find less rush as compared to november onwards. Swimming is a complete avoid during rains from our side. You can enjoy treking, hiking, wildlife, bird watching, and more. Goa doesn’t shut down completely in monsoon, you can enjoy nighlife in leading nightclubs like Mambo’s, Tito’s and the St. Anthony’s Bar in Baga, the LPK (Love Passion Karma) in Candolim, Curlies on Anjuna beach, and the bar of Park Hotel in Calangute. Talking about food, Goa has every type of food available, just make sure that you are eating at a decent place. If you are in doubt, check places for eating on Zomato anytime. Consider places with 4+ reviews. For stay, consider signature hotels like SilverKey, Townhouse, Capital O, etc. from OYO as these will be premium, comfortable, price friendly, and secure.
Traveling by car, make sure that your car is properly serviced. Check spare tyre is fine. Get fuel tank filled up. Drive in a lane and don’t overspeed. The road from Pune to Goa is good so there aren’t much issues with the roads condition. Also, do avoid night travel if possible. Though the road is 24*7 busy, we still suggest you to avoid night travel.
Hi Shashank
I really appreciate your efforts to guide peoples who travel and it’s really helpful for a person like me who is traveling 1st time to Goa with family

Abhay
Isn’t the route you suggest is closed for repair? Somewhere between Anmod and Mollem. What’s the current status of the route. Which route us safer to take otherwise? considering travelling with family
Thank you
No, as of now this route seems to be perfect. If you are having any doubt, please avoid traveling at night. Route is safe for everyone.
Beautiful Pictures! Nice Info about Pune to Goa road trip.Had a great time reading this post. You explained everything in such an amazing and simple way.
Goa is a great place where you can enjoy your trip with anyone like your family or friends, loved your blog. Goa being the most attractive place where all love to visit to have a peaceful vacation. Visit On – Flat Number 441,Laxman Nivas, near Shirodkar Bar, New Vaddem, Goa 403802
I wouldn’t advise this route to anyone. I’ve never been to Belgaum and don’t think it’s worth to take such a long route.
My usual route is Pune- Satara-Kholapur-Nipani Phata- AzarA- Sawantwadi-Amboli Ghat-Pernem-Mapusa.
Hi Kiran, the route you suggested is short in distance but takes similar time to reach Mapsua, but our route is longer and even then takes similar because the destination we are reaching is Badoli in Goa not Mapsua. Also, the route we mentioned is better built and better to drive on. Anyways, I appreciate your feedback over the route and your route is also good if someone wants to take it.
Hi, I am planning to travel from Pune to Goa via Amboli ghat, is this safe route? Also need suggestion if I want to halt for night stay at Amboli Or near by, is there any hotel available for family?
